About Cooney Coil & Energy

Replacement Rep, Serving PA, DE NJ

Cooney Coil & Energy (CCE) was founded by Bob Cooney back in 2009. What started as a small manufactures’ rep firm for replacement coils and heat exchangers, has expanded to what is now known as Cooney Technologies.

What sets Coil & Energy apart?

What makes us unique as a replacement rep in our market, is our commitment to the customer and solving problems. Our dedication to creating solutions for our customer’s challenges was how Freeze Block™ Technology was invented. We continue to find innovative ways to solve problems.

What segments are you seeing the most success in?

Historically we’ve seen huge wins for Freeze Block in facilities that cannot afford any downtime. Many facilities realize the cost of replacing a coil but don’t account for other costs. We’ve been really hitting on the expense of freeze damage as it relates to downtime.

We’re picking up steam (pun intended) with the Thermo-Pack in the pharmaceutical segment. The all stainless, welded and electropolished heat exchanger in the Thermo-Pack is a great fit for the pharmaceutical industry.

However, higher education continues to be the top segment for Thermo-Pack sales. Campus Energy customers that are still using steam benefit from the sub-cooling energy savings and precise temperature control of hot water. Top-tier colleges and universities who are looking to test out the latest in technology and energy-saving products are looking to the Thermo-Pack. Should make for a fun year of growth with our newest product!

Customer Success Story: Temple University + Cooney Thermo-Pack

Problem: Existing Aerco units in the Temple Student Center were unreliable. These Aerco units had three internal leak failures within an 18-month period. Several parts of the existing skid were rusting and the condensate receiver

s were failing due to overheated condensation, resulting in cavitation and recurring damage to the pump seals. Due to space limitations in the mechanical room, these units were also extremely difficult to service.

Solution: Cooney Coil & Energy got a call from the mechanical engineer at Temple Facilities looking for a reliable, all-stainless, robust heat exchanger that would fit within the tight confines of the mechanical room.

After several months of working alongside the facilities department at Temple University, the CCE team and Product Manager Rick Kobylinski developed a custom Thermo-Pack for Temple University. The welded, all-stainless Thermo-Pack subcools condensate to temperatures as low as 90F. The units were able to be customized with stainless materials and to fit within the height restrictions of the mechanical room without the custom price. The units have been installed and running without issues since October of 2019.
